A few days ago I wrote a quick review of the Nike Miler Dri-FIT Running Tank. I shared how it reminded me of James Bond’s style; cool, yet subtle.
The Nike Solar Chase Dri-FIT ADV Running Tank, is on the complete opposite end of the cool spectrum. It’s like the Robert Downey Jr. of Nike running tops. Flashy, bougie, but freaking amazing!
(Just look at what Nike called this tank top. The name is way too long!)
RDJ
If there’s any person that exemplifies ostentatious, it’s RDJ. He’s perfected it.
Somehow, he’s outrageously overconfident but not annoyingly arrogant. He’s outgoing but not ass-uming.
Robert Downey Jr. always has a splash of something extra too. Like a pair of gaudy sunglasses.
Nike’s Solar Chase Running Tank mirrors this.

When you put it on, it’s shockingly soft for a tank top. It gives an impression of a luxury product from Lululemon. And if we look at the fabrics, the material used on the back and sides are perforated to give both a visual and functional boost. (It breaths really well!)

Between these two fabrics, it’s exceptionally comfortable to run, work, and play in.
There’s also this strange loop on the back of it that drives my bougie point even further. Just like high fashion products that have pointless designs, so does this.
I guess you could use the loop to hang dry, but you’re better off with a hanger. (I personally put it in the dryer, since it’s meant to be exercised in and should be able to survive harsh treatment.)

The Price
The one big factor when you’re talking about a running tank like this though, is the price. The Solar Chase Dri-FIT ADV Running Tank is $65.
You either look at that and think, “No way!” Or you don’t even look at the price. You buy what you want when you want.
For me, I’m in the first camp.
As amazing as this tank top is, it’s not for me. If I had a spare $65, I would buy a pair of shoes before I would buy a shirt to run in.
I was secretly hoping to fall in love with it, wear it every day, and not send it back. But for me, a deal hunter/cheapskate, I won’t be keeping this.

The Recap
If you identify with the style of 007, and you’re limited in cash, then I would pass on this. (The Nike Miler Dri-FIT Running Tank would be a much better choice… after it goes on sale.)
But if deep down you’re like RDJ, then you might love the Nike Solar Chase Dri-FIT ADV Running Tank. It takes Nike as a brand to a new level of fancy. And thankfully Nike hasn’t sacrificed function for form.
I really do like this tank top, but for $65 it’s not for me.
