I’m a pretty average guy with the exception that I’m a bit of a clean freak.
I don’t like cluttered rooms, unorganized closets, or bathrooms that haven’t been cleaned for more than a week. However, I don’t see the need for things that are marketed towards people like me. Things like carpet powders to make a room smell good, or those Febreze furniture sprays.
I used to put diffusers in that bucket. Until now.
I’ve been using the Aera Mini for the last couple months, and it’s actually worth it.
The Gist
In its most basic form, the Aera is a diffuser. There are tons of other options out there, and my goodness are some nicer than others.
I only know this because my wife was once gifted a cheaper one. You can find this one, or something like it, practically everywhere. And to be honest, my wife still really likes it because of the price and the little fog thing it does.
However, it’s a pain to keep going. Because it runs out fast, you’re constantly having to clean and refill it. (Yes, I know, #firstworldproblems.)
What the Aera Mini offers though is leaps and bounds beyond that. To start off, the Aera scent bottles last so much longer and the device is digitally and physically automated.
Aka you can set it and forget it. (*For 1-4+ months.)
Living
Whether you put one in your bedroom, family room, or kitchen, you can customize it to the space.
For example, my wife and I don’t like the smell of our bedroom when we first wake up. It has a slight stench of BO because, you know, we just spent the last 8+ hours passed out in a confined space with little-to-no air flow.
We’ve tried to resolve this so many different ways. Leave the door open, put up a fan, open a window, etc. None of these are great long-term solutions for us.
The only thing that has been? The Aera Mini scheduled in the app to run from 7:30AM-9:30AM.
Somehow the Aera does an excellent job not just putting a good smell into the room, but partially eliminating the morning breath filled room. It doesn’t stop there though.
When you create a schedule, you can specify the strength of the diffuser: ranging from 1-5. We set it at a 3 for those first few weeks, but to really see what it could do we maxed it out to a 5.
At the highest level, the bedroom morning breath smell was completely gone! Heck yeah!
Exceptions
Like all things, your mileage will vary. The size of your room, the amount you use the Aera, the scent intensity, where you plug it in, etc.
BUT, by some mystical magic, our first scent is still going strong! How?!
It’s been two months, and the app shows our Soft Pants vial still has 87% left. If you’re constantly running it though, then it won’t last 4+ months like our one will.
Because of how good it’s been, you might wonder how much this stuff costs.
That cheapo diffuser my wife was gifted, you can find on Amazon for $10 right now.
The Area Mini, it’s $100?! The Soft Pants scent, it’s $60?!
Oh the price of convenience… until you consider how long you might have it for.
If you keep the Area Mini for two years, that’s about $4 per month. Add in the $60 fragrance that lasts at least four months, and that’s $15 per month. (That’s without any discount or promos, which Aera runs multiple throughout the year.)
Either way, $20 per month is worth it for us. Especially when you add in the app, automated schedules, the bedroom stink remedy, and the fun my wife has picking out the next fragrance.
The Recap
The Aera Mini just works. It’s easy enough to set up the app and create your desired schedules. At which point you can forget about it for 2-4+ months, because it just works.
The app is simple and intuitive enough, along with the top buttons on the device so you can turn it on or off at any point.
If you can stomach the initial cost of $100 for the diffuser, which you can get a 20% discount as a new customer, then it’s going to be hard to find a diffuser as good as this!
